Shit, man, then I guess it's all roses, right? [ That sarcastic expression and the way he throws his hands out says no, it's still not, and he's still not okay with it, but maybe he's willing to move away for a minute. It'll be easier for them both if they do, anyways, if only for Duo's sanity. It weirdly brings him back to all the ways people thought of to 'control' their little orphan gang population, and maybe that's why it chafes so much and so quickly. Sure, it wasn't like people were popping babies out of tubes at the rate of five hundred a litter, but, you know.
Still kinda fucked up. ]
You think that stops people? The whole thing about the people currently having nothing to do with it? [ C'mon, Garrus. He knows you're smarter than that, and he's a bit of a Debbie Downer when it comes to human (person? being?) nature. Plus.. well. The beef between Earth and Space would've died down if it relied on the life times of single human beings. There's a little cluck of his tongue, anyways, as he thinks over how to word what he wants to say next, squinting in to the distance as if the words might appear out of thin air for him. ]
Looking at everything else they're capable of, am I meant to doubt that they couldn't? [ Duo closes one eye, peeking at Garrus with the open one curiously. ]
I just don't like eating what I'm fed without even thinking about it, if that makes sense. Dealt with too many shady groups that distract you with one hand while they're getting the knife ready in their other one too recently to just say 'okay' and start fitting in with the people around.
There's not much we can do about it now, is there?
[ and the fact of the matter was, it really wasn't that simple. you could take Mordin's route and say that the genophage was necessary, and the Krogan needed to change their ways. or, you could say that no one had the right to do something like that to anyone. but the fact of the matter was, it wasn't up to him and while a few years ago he knows exactly what he'd have done.

They haven't given any reason for us not to trust them, have they? What other reason do you think they'd have just keeping us here?

I don't plan to travel to your world so there's certainly nothing I can do. [ After all, who knew what might happen if humans started breeding too quickly, right? Duo's still pretty unimpressed with this whole genophage idea, if he's honest, but it is what it is. It's not as though he's going to go blazing in to his world with his gundam and put an end to it, right? ]
Not sure. Could be I'm just paranoid from too long in my own war, but I just don't feel like I want to trust them so quickly. Not at least without keeping them at arms length for a while.
Last time I just went ahead with someone else's plan it bit me in the ass anyways. [ Particularly when it came to the Gundams and how operation meteor had gone down. Left a sour taste in his mouth and all. ]
[ well hey, you guys haven't blown up your planet in nuclear war, and aren't slamming moons into other people's colonies, so you guys are 110% Good. ]
They seem pretty normal to me so far.

Someone told me once that you have to trust your instincts. Not just go along with the plan. But then again, I've never been very good at following bad orders.
That probably won't last long.. [ Duo laughs, both at his own joke and the truth behind it. He's not necessarily the most normal human kid in the world, especially after the war and all of that lot. He supposes Garrus might lear that over time, but he's not going to press about it. After all, that'd involve some story telling and that might be depressing for them both. ]
I know a guy who told me the same. More like 'following your emotions is not a bad thing' but he was also the most emotionally stunted asshole I'd ever met, so..
