Oh, it's 2016. I know that the Americans went to the moon, and we've got all sortsa satellites and probes on the moon and Mars and stuff, but that's kinda it.
Basically this super cool tech that lets you travel from one side of the galaxy to another in a manner of minutes. You guys ended up finding one right at the edge of your Solar System after studying some Prothean ruins on Mars.

That's about 150 years or so out from where you came from. Or... I guess it would be if it weren't for that whole Storm thing...
Probably something about alternate universes. You know, similar worlds, but like one change means infinite possibilities. But don't ask me too much about that. I'm more into practical physics than theoretical stuff.
