[ There’s a bit of a pause before his next response, as though Peter was trying to figure out how, exactly, that’s a good excuse. But— ]
How is that better, exactly?
[ he’s open to explanations, here. ]

[ the alien dutch knows are green plasma that takes over a human host and turns humans into part of a hive mind. they're great at pretending to be human, but that doesn't make them human at all. they have to work at the portrayal of human emotion because it doesn't come natural to them.
at least garrus wears his alienness on the outside; dutch appreciates that more than she probably should. ]
I'm Dutch.
[ after a beat, she holds out her hand to him. seems like the polite thing to do. (not that dutch has ever cared for politeness, really.) ]
What are you, Garrus?

What are you, Garrus?
[Sorry Garrus. Venom doesn't mean to disappoint.]
Ah, yes. Calling someone "chicken" as an insult. I've always found it juvenile, myself.
But to claim everything in the galaxy tastes of chicken sounds silly. Though granted, this world is the first I've visited outside of my home. I don't have much experience with other food in the galaxy.
[Well, other than whatever's available on the moon.]

[ JUST A BIT... ]
What, wait--intergalactic? Oh man--serious? That's. Cool, whoa. That would make things way faster. Fast Travel only works over short distances between planets and stuff. I think? I don't actually use it. Or haven't used it. I never actually had the codes or privileges when I worked for the people that did.
[ And then, you know, he crashed it all into a planet. so. ]

They have every other size. And they are all-powerful alien gods or whatever. Seems weird if they didn't, you know? If they have raccoon size they've gotta have Turian.
[ Logically speaking, anyway. How likely is it that they'd have raccoon sizes but not other aliens when everyone here happens to be an alien in some manner or form relative to someone else?
Sure Garrus is bulky but he's not a behemoth. ]
Let's take a look.

Well, the animal kind is a tiny bird! It's white, or brown, kind of puffy looking...
[ Vague gesture with her hands. ]
And the food type looks different depending on how it's prepared. Though, I guess you might not be familiar with the cooking techniques from where chickens come from if you don't even know what they are...
[ She stalls for a moment, trying to find a good way to navigate this. ]
You're probably asking because you're looking for something to eat, right?

[Rocket grits his teeth in a snarl and fires off a shot aimed straight for the base of the neck. The resulting blast doesn't quite decapitate it, but it's enough that the two aliens and the boat get soaked in a nice layer of gore for their troubles.
But it's fine. When the death writhing stops and the serpent falls back into the water, it produces a wave that attempts to wash away most of it. The boat, mercifully, stays upright, but whether that's better or worse than being covered in serpent gore, soaking wet, and sitting in a boat now full of displaced river life, some of which seem to be very drawn to the blood and viscera, remains to be seen.
Rocket, caked in blood, soaked to the bone and currently boasting some sort of crab-like creature latched onto his tail, looks less than enthused about these circumstances. He huffs once and the,n with a slow nod of acceptance, declares:]
Whatever. Still badass.

[She hears him well enough, twisting about to meet the serpent as it dives into the water again.
With its an source of attacking rendered moot thanks to Garrus, it makes the rest of the job easy. It's a bit of a chase, the water beneath the boat making it sway ominously. Her trident pierces through it and she watches with a tinge of regret as it thrashes about and bleeds out.
She surfaces moments later and hauls the trident--serpent an all--back onto the boat before climbing up herself.]
You are uninjured? I have no doubt there may be ore of these things around, so we should make haste.

Yeah.. that exactly. [ He almost looks surprised for some reason that he seemed to know what was going on - probably because he's used to people being shocked that he was from space, or something like that, and yet here he is... still kind of shocked that someone gets it. Not in a bad way at least - how could he? In a way it's a relief that someone finally gets it. Well, kind of. He wonders if he'd be as understanding of the resultant terrorism he unleashed on people to make a point about colonies and their freedoms - ]
A whole race of 'em? Yeesh - [ Even thinking about it makes his head hurt. He reaches to scratch at the base of his braid. ]
What's genophage, though? Ya lost me there...
[ PERHAPS THERE IS but for the moment, let's let them have this tiny spot of peace. lance beams, looking quite proud of himself, and even prouder that garrus acknowledged it. with a wave of his hand, the rifle disappears in a flash of light, and he's standing there with a hip cocked out like he's freaking han solo or their respective universes' equivalent of. ]
Yeeeeeah, it's kind of what I do. Back home, I'm pretty much known as the ninja sharpshooter.
[ no. no he is not. ]

[ She'd beam in response to the compliment if it weren't for the fact that when the serpent goes reeling back it dives back into the water. That's concerning, especially when the shadow in the waves begins to disappear. ]
Did it... run off just like that?
[ That may just be hopeful thinking, but it could also just be a baby so??? understandable. ]

[ Gamora is actually attentive as she listens to Garrus speak, taking a few slow sips from her water as he explains the debacle with these so-called Reapers.
… It definitely doesn’t sound good. ]
By that, do you mean the Storm came while you were still fighting them?
